Why shell out big dollars for Microsoft Office when a great alternative already exists and for free. Open Office is free just because it is open source.
What is included in Open Office?
Writer (like word), drawing (paint?), spreadsheets (excel), presentation (power point), and information (access). So you get imitations of all the products currently offered in Microsoft Office for free. Can you open Microsoft Office documents in Open Office? Yes, you can and vice versa.
Compatibility?
You'll happy when you notice that both Office software function similarly. The layouts are similar enough so that if you know how to use Microsoft Office, you won't notice the difference.
